Safe Routes to School (SRTS)

We are working to improve walking opportunities in Knoxville by providing a Safe Routes to School program at various elementary schools. Knox County’s Safe Routes to School Partnership is also working to get more kids walking at more elementary schools. More info on SRTS can be found at the national partnership website and Knox County info can be found here: Knox County SRTS.

Here are a few tips about how kids can walk safely to school! There are five videos about being visible, safely crossing the street, walking on paths, minimizing distractions, and staying in a group

We also are looking for volunteers to assist with our programs as we expand this opportunity to other schools. If you would like to volunteer with our walking programs (and get in some exercise) check out our volunteer page!
